Position: Airport Law Enforcement Officer - Armed Patrol in Kahului, HI. You will serve and safeguard the airport, its facilities, travelers, and operations. You will interact with the public, provide outstanding customer service, and communicate clearly while upholding our values of teamwork, integrity, and putting people first. Position Type: Part Time - Overnight
Pay Rate: $28.86 / Hour with an hourly bonus of $3.58. Premium paid shall be based on the position actually worked by the employee.
Job Schedule: Fri 10:30 PM – 07:00 AM
Minimum Qualifications (NO EXCEPTIONS)To be considered, all applicants must meet the following criteria:
- 2+ years of professional law enforcement experience in the U.S. after graduating from a certified law enforcement academy (Federal, State, or County level).
- Graduate of Law Enforcement or Military Police Training Program or Equivalent (must provide credentials upon applying)
- Valid Driver's License
- Law Enforcement Officer License
- 22+ years of age
Basic Qualifications
The basic qualifications listed below are representative of the relevant knowledge, skills, and/or experience required to be hired. These requirements are the minimum for success in this role.
Applicant must complete one of the following approved programs:
- Certified State law enforcement recruit training
- Certified County law enforcement recruit training
- Federal law enforcement training
- Programs approved by the Director
- Each LEO will possess the following minimum qualifications: no felony convictions or certain disqualifying offenses as described in required policy
* A valid driver’s license is required for driving positions.
Knowledge and Skills Required- Must be able to supervise Contractor’s personnel and work effectively with airport management, tenants, other law enforcement agencies, and the public on security matters, disputes, and performance concerns.
These are additional criteria that may enhance hiring decisions but do not exclude candidates who do not have them.
- No record of moral turpitude, domestic violence, untruthfulness, or mental or emotional disorders that may interfere with duties.
- Provide customer service by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities when appropriate.
- Respond to incidents and critical situations calmly and with problem-solving approaches.
- Exercise sound judgement and make immediate, appropriate decisions under stress.
- Maintain maturity in conduct and attitude; follow instructions and accept responsibility for actions.
- Stay alert, attentive, and professional; recognize, respond, and take corrective actions as needed.
- Demonstrate strong moral character and truthfulness.
- Communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Show courtesy in interactions with the public, airport staff, tenants, law enforcement, and security personnel.
- LEOs may be required to attend court related to citations; contractor shall provide replacement staffing for court appearances.
- Mentally and emotionally capable of performing all duties; in good physical health to perform normal or emergency duties requiring moderate to arduous exertion (standing, walking, patrolling, climbing stairs, running, self-defense).
- Perform essential physical tasks with or without reasonable accommodation, including lifting and carrying objects up to 25 lbs. for a designated distance.
