As an Airport Law Enforcement Officer - Armed Patrol in Kahului, HI, you will serve and safeguard the airport, its facilities, its travelers, and airport operations. Pay Rate

$28.86 per hour with an hourly bonus of $3.58. Premium paid shall be based on the position actually worked by the employee.

Job Schedule

Day Time Tuesday: 04:30 AM – 02:30 PM
Saturday: 04:30 AM – 02:30 PM

Minimum Qualifications
  • 2+ years of professional law enforcement experience in the U.S. after graduation from a certified law enforcement academy (Federal, State, or County level).
  • No felony convictions or convictions for abuse of a household member under the Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 (18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(9)) or documented truthfulness infractions in violation of Giglio/Henthorn for federal impeachment proceedings (referring to Giglio v. United States, 405 U.S. 105 (1972) and United States v. Henthorn, 931

    F. 2d 29 (9th Cir. 1991)).
Pre-Employment Requirements
  • Graduate of a Law Enforcement or Military Police Training Program or equivalent (credentials required upon applying).
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Law Enforcement Officer License.
  • 22+ years of age.
Basic Qualifications
  • Completed one of the following approved programs:
    • Certified State law enforcement recruit training.
    • Certified County law enforcement recruit training.
    • Federal law enforcement training.
    • Programs approved by the Director.
Knowledge and Skills Required
  • Ability to supervise contractor personnel and work effectively with airport management, tenants, other law enforcement agencies, and the public on matters relating to security disputes and complaints regarding the performance, conduct, or behavior of subordinate employees.
Other Related Attributes That Would Enhance Hiring Consideration
  • Shall have no record of moral turpitude, domestic violence, untruthfulness, or mental or emotional disorders which may interfere with performance of duties.
Responsibilities
  • Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem‑solving manner.
  • Exercise sound judgment and render immediate, appropriate decisions under stressful conditions.
  • Mature in conduct, behavior, and attitude.
  • Take orders, follow instructions, accept and assume responsibility for one's actions.
  • Alertness, attentiveness, and professional conduct; recognize, respond to and take appropriate corrective actions to various situations.

  • Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, in English.
  • Maintain courtesy in interpersonal relationships with the public, airport employees, tenants, law enforcement, and security personnel.
  • Provide court appearance for citations issued on behalf of DOTA as required; contractor shall provide replacement staffing for LEOs required to attend court proceedings.
Physical Requirements and Environment
  • Mentally and emotionally capable of performing all duties required for assigned post/duties.
  • In good physical health and fully capable of performing normal or emergency duties requiring moderate to arduous physical exertion such as standing, walking, patrolling for an entire shift, climbing stairs, running, and self‑defense.
