LocationAirport Law Enforcement Officer - Armed Patrol, Kahului, HI. This position is located on the Island of Maui, State of Hawai‘i.
Position DetailsPosition Type:
Part Time.
Pay Rate: $28.86 per Hour plus an hourly bonus of $3.58.
Job ScheduleThurs 01:30 PM – 10:00 PM;
Fri 01:30 PM – 10:00 PM.
- 2+ years of professional law enforcement experience in the U.S. after graduating from a certified law enforcement academy (Federal, State, or County level).
- Graduate of a Law Enforcement or Military Police Training Program or equivalent (must provide credentials upon applying).
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Law Enforcement Officer License.
- 22+ years of age.
- Certified State law enforcement recruit training.
- Certified County law enforcement recruit training.
- Federal law enforcement training.
- Programs approved by the Director.
- Each LEO must possess the following minimum qualifications:
- No felony convictions or convictions for abuse of a household member under the Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 (18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(9)) or documented truthfulness infractions in violation of Giglio/Henthorn for federal impeachment proceedings.
- Must be able to supervise Contractor’s personnel and work effectively with airport management, tenants, other law enforcement agencies and the public on matters relating to security disputes, complaints on the performance, conduct or behavior of subordinate employees.
- Shall have no record of moral turpitude, domestic violence, untruthfulness, or mental or emotional disorders which may interfere with performance of duties.
- Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
- Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner.
- Exercise sound judgement and render immediate, appropriate decisions under stressful conditions.
- Show maturity in conduct, behavior and attitude.
- Take orders, follow instructions, accept and assume responsibility for one’s actions.
- Be alert, attentive, and maintain professional conduct. Recognize, respond, and take appropriate and corrective actions to various situations.
- Have strong moral character. Must possess high standards and be truthful.
- Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, in English.
- Demonstrate courtesy in interpersonal relationships with the public, airport employees, tenants, law enforcement and security personnel.
- LEOs may be required to attend a court appearance for citations issued on behalf of DOTA; contractor shall provide replacement staffing for LEOs required to attend a court proceeding.
- Mentally and emotionally capable of performing all duties required for the assigned post/duties.
- In good physical health and fully capable of performing normal or emergency duties requiring moderate to arduous physical exertion such as standing, walking, patrolling for an entire shift, climbing stairs, running and self‑defense.
- Perform essential physical tasks, with or without reasonable accommodation, including:
- Lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs. for a designated distance.
- Assisting in the safe evacuation of individuals, including carrying a small child or providing support to persons with limited mobility.
- Subject to a random drug screen.
- Able to exercise physical force, if required, in the execution of official duties.
- Successfully pass a security background check conducted by the DOTA pass and e.
- Well-groomed and neat in appearance as officially commissioned representatives of the State.
- Pass and complete a one-time physical examination within the past 6 months.
