Recruitment Number 26-0252. Immediate vacancy is with the Department of Transportation, Airports Division. All applicants must be available to work rotating shifts, including evenings and weekends. The continuous recruitment may be closed at any time.
ResponsibilitiesSupervises and participates in the repair and maintenance of buildings; plans, lays out, schedules and assigns work of building maintenance workers based on work orders; instructs subordinates and demonstrates proper work methods; works alongside subordinates to set pace and quality; checks and inspects buildings, structures, equipment and facilities for needed repairs; estimates material and labor costs; requisitions materials; inspects work in progress and upon completion;
makes oral and written reports of work completed by the crew; performs other related duties as assigned.
- Legal authorization to work:
Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the state to be citizens, nationals or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States. - Six (6) years of work experience in performing a variety of building maintenance repair work, of which two (2) years shall have been as a fully competent worker (journey worker level) or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Driver's license:
The immediate vacancy requires possession of a valid driver's license at the time of appointment. - Federal criminal history records check: positions requiring unescorted access to secured areas at the airport require a pre‑employment fingerprint‑based criminal history check. Applicants must not have been convicted or found "not guilty by reason of insanity" of a disqualifying offense within ten years of application. The applicant is responsible for the cost of the check.
