Mechanic Tech III

This position is responsible for ensuring the safe working condition of all Roberts’ vehicles by performing moderately supervised repairs and maintenance of all company vehicles.

The incumbent is also responsible to deliver a high level of personalized service to all clients, passengers, vendors, etc.

• Assist 1st class and 2nd class mechanics with repairs
• Trains (supervises) underclass technician (i.e., mechanic helper)
• Performs diagnosis and corrective action of reported mechanical discrepancies within ability
• Performs routine repairs and preventative maintenance
• Generates written work orders on a daily basis to account for task(s) accomplishment(s) work performed
• Performs general housekeeping of shop area
• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested

• Must be at least 18 year of age
• Must be able to write simple correspondence and basic reports – i.e. skillsets, education, certifications, etc.
• High School diploma or GED equivalent
• Must have a minimum of two (2) years of work-related experience as a mechanic helper; and or training (e.g. technical / trade school preferred); or equivalent combination of education and experience)
• Must communicate well verbally and in writing.
  
  Good listening skills is required.
• Able to speak, read, write in English.
• Type 3 License with a motor vehicle driver history record, preferred.
• Must own basic hand-tools (e.g. sockets, wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, hammer, etc.)
• Must be able to work flexible days / hours – weekends, nights, holiday
• Operational knowledge of basic hand tools required
• Operational knowledge of basic shop equipment (e.g. vise, press, floor jacks, etc.) required
• Recognizes problems and responds, systematically gathers information, sorts through complex issues, seeks input from others, addresses root cause of issues, makes timely decisions, can make difficult decisions, uses consensus when possible, communicates decisions to others

Medium to heavy work:
Exerting up to 70 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects

• Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time
• Must have good manual dexterity which involves frequent bending, stooping, overhead reaching, kneeling, squatting and other physical demands
• Must be able to work in a repair shop environment where loud noises, exhaust fumes and chemicals are commonly present
• Must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly
