Job Title: Clinical and Youth Development Supervisor

Status: Full-time (40 hours per week)/Non-Exempt

Reports to: Youth Line Maui Deputy Director of Operations and Statewide Outreach

Salary: The starting base rate for this role is $27 per hour plus a $2/hour differential for employees who possess a Master's degree in a related field and a $1/hour differential for hours worked in the office when regularly working in the office 3 days per week ($30 per hour when those differential apply). Location: Maui County. This position requires working on-site at a Youth Line call center 2-3 days per week in the evenings (4-5 hours each shift between 6:00-10:30pm) and the ability to travel to schools and community events.

Lines for Life is a regional non-profit that is dedicated to preventing substance abuse and suicide. We offer help and hope to individuals and communities and promote mental health for all. Our work addresses a spectrum of needs that include intervention, prevention, and advocacy. We educate, train, and advocate to prevent issues of substance abuse, mental illness, and thoughts of suicide from reaching crisis levels.

But when a crisis arises or support is needed, we are available 24/7/365 to intervene with personalized help.

Youth Line is a free peer-to-peer help, support, and crisis line for youth ages 10-24. For over 25 years, the Youth Line has helped support the mental wellness of young people, prevent youth suicide, and change culture around mental wellbeing through teen-to-teen mental health support. Teen and young adult volunteers and interns receive extensive training to serve as peer counselors for other youth in crisis.

The peer experience is critical: youth best understand the experience of their peers because they are living the same experience, uniquely situating them to provide meaningful, impactful support for youth in crisis.

The Clinical and Youth Development Supervisor provides direct supervision, mentorship, and clinical oversight to youth and young adult volunteers on the Youth Line help, support, and crisis line. This role also supports the development and delivery of clinical training, implements quality assurance practices, and fosters a safe, inclusive environment that supports youth growth and wellbeing. The Supervisor balances real-time supervision with direct crisis line work, ensuring consistent, compassionate, and clinically sound support for youth in crisis while supporting best practices in youth development.

The Supervisor will support Youth Development functions, including volunteer recruitment, training, oversight, scheduling, and continuing education. Additionally, this position will support Youth Line Education and Outreach initiatives by delivering mental health lessons in classrooms and staffing community events to increase Youth Line’s presence in the local community.

• Demonstrate the culture of Lines for Life by modeling behavior that supports the goals and philosophies of Lines for Life and the Youth Line.

• Supervise and mentor Youth Line volunteers answering calls, texts, and chats during scheduled shifts, supporting the goals and purpose of Youth Line and Lines for Life.
• Maintain and follow Youth Line contact procedures and follow all safety protocols.
• Provide real-time support, coaching, and clinical guidance to volunteers and interns while taking contacts.
• Establish rapport with Youth Line volunteers and contacts, and act as a resource of knowledge and systems use for volunteers.
• Identify and/or offer appropriate available resources that can be provided to contacts and support the efforts of Youth Line.
• Create a welcoming and inclusive environment that encourages learning, resilience, and growth.
