Salary:$80,000 - $85,000 - depending on experience

Local organization seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Accountant and Payroll Specialist to join Finance team. This position combines accounting, payroll, and financial reporting responsibilities, supporting the organization's day-to-day financial operations while ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing. The ideal candidate will possess strong accounting knowledge, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to maintain confidentiality while working with sensitive financial and employee information.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting & Financial Operations
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
  • Manage vendor invoices, payments, reconciliations, and billing inquiries.
  • Prepare member/customer billings and follow up on account discrepancies.
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages.
  • Support budget preparation, forecasting, variance reporting, and financial analysis.
  • Assist with year-end audits and maintain supporting financial documentation.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, subsidiary ledgers, and fixed asset schedules.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure proper filing and document retention.
Payroll Administration
  • Process payroll accurately and on schedule.
  • Maintain payroll records and employee payroll data.
  • Calculate wages, overtime, bonuses, commissions, and deductions.
  • Manage direct deposits, garnishments, benefits deductions, and timekeeping records.
  • Reconcile payroll accounts and payroll-related general ledger balances.
  • Prepare payroll reports and assist with audit requests.
  • Support year-end payroll activities, including W-2 processing and related tax documentation.
  • Respond to employee payroll inquiries with professionalism and discretion.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable payroll laws.

Qualifications
  • Associate's degree required;
    Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum two years of accounting experience.
  • Previous payroll processing experience required.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, payroll regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with payroll software and accounting systems preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
