Kealakehe High School is seeking a dedicated, empathetic, and innovative educator to join our Alternative Learning Program. This role is designed for a "Waverider" who is passionate about reaching students who may struggle in a traditional classroom setting and is committed to helping them find their unique path to graduation and personal success.
Responsibilities- Create a supportive, non‑traditional learning environment that emphasizes individualized instruction, social‑emotional growth, and credit recovery.
- Act as both an educator and a mentor, bridging the gap between academic requirements and the diverse lived experiences of our students.
- A Bachelor’s Degree is required, except for designated Career and Technology Education (CTE) positions.
- Upon hire you must have a valid Hawaii teaching license or an Emergency Hire Permit.
- For those hired without a teacher education program, you have a maximum of 3 years to obtain a valid Hawaii teaching license and must enroll in a program to continue employment with the Department.
- You must demostratively pursue meeting Hawaii licensing requirements each year of employment as set forth by the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board (HTSB).
