Job Summary
:
The Teacher shall be a positive role model towards the development of all children in the group, guiding them in physical, social, emotional, and intellectual growth with age-appropriate activities.
This is a Full-Time position that requires 40 hours per week.
Essential Functions- Prepare lesson plans and actively participate in planning unit studies according to age groups.
- Create a safe environment for all to enjoy, keeping the environment organized.
- Keep written records of developmental growth of each child.
- Record all physical accidents in a teacher logbook or accident report binder.
- Attend weekly staff meetings, contributing to the quality growth of the center.
- Conduct conferences with parents informally and formally, maintaining open communication.
- Participate in workshops and training sessions for personal growth.
- Other duties assigned by the Head Teacher, Director, or Officer.
- Communicate concerns with Head Teacher and Director.
- Display awareness of the mission of the Salvation Army to the public.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Able to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Early Childhood Education Training.
- Current Physical & TB Clearance.
- High School Diploma or Higher.
- CPR & First Aid Certification Card – Infant/Toddler.
- Current Fingerprint & Criminal History Background Check.
- Patch Registry Certificate.
- Minimum CDA Certification.
- All requirements kept updated.
- Work under stressful conditions.
- Interact with others with courtesy and tact.
- Manage and prioritize multiple projects.
- Respond to crisis situations calmly.
- Meet tight deadlines.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
The position requires sitting, climbing/balancing, stooping, kneeling, bending, stretching, crouching, crawling, standing, walking, manual dexterity, eye-hand coordination, use of vision, driving a vehicle, pushing, pulling, lifting or carrying 25-50 pounds and occasionally more than 50 pounds; travelling by airplane.
Communication DemandsThe position involves talking to co-workers, clients, vendors; written communication; telephone; responding to requests; providing training or instructions; composing written materials; reading; visiting or working at other worksites; using the latest technologies.
Skills/Technical Knowledge- Prioritize multiple work tasks to meet tight deadlines.
- Travel off-island as necessary.
Use office equipment such as computers, photocopiers, scanners, calculators, etc.
Work EnvironmentMost work will be indoors at Kona Corps Facility. Attendance at trainings, both in Hawaii and on the mainland, is required.
