Job Summary:

Provides assistance to the primary surgeon during surgical procedures, ensuring patient safety and optimal outcomes. Supports surgical team by managing exposure, hemostasis, tissue handling, and other intraoperative tasks in accordance with surgeon directives.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and position the patient for surgery, ensuring proper exposure and visualization of the operative field.
• Assist in controlling bleeding, harvesting grafts, and closing incisions accurately and efficiently.
• Verify the availability of surgical supplies and equipment, including implants, according to surgeon preferences.
• Maintain a sterile environment by performing proper gowning, gloving, and draping procedures.
• Review preoperative documentation, including medical charts and diagnostic results, to confirm readiness.
• Perform pre- and postoperative activities to support patient care continuity.

Qualifications:

• Hold a surgical first assistant (CSFA) certification.
• Possess a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved provider.
• Have a minimum of two years recent experience in a surgical setting.
• Maintain a valid nursing license as required by the state of assignment.
• Demonstrate proficiency with surgical protocols and equipment management.
