The After Hours Sales Associate is a part-time position responsible for preparing the store for the next business day by completing stocking, inventory management, merchandising, store recovery, and backroom organization after peak customer traffic. Working under the direction of the After Hours Supervisor and Store Management, this role supports operational efficiency, inventory accuracy, and store presentation, allowing daytime associates to focus on delivering exceptional customer service while ensuring the store is fully stocked, organized, and customer-ready each morning.

ESSENTIAL

FUNCTIONS
  • Receives, unloads, and processes scheduled freight deliveries and truck shipments accurately and efficiently.
  • Replenishes merchandise from the stockroom to the sales floor according to company standards.
  • Stocks shelves accurately and efficiently, rotating merchandise and maintaining proper product presentation.
  • Identifies out-of-stock merchandise and recognizes replenishment opportunities.
  • Recovers assigned departments by front‑facing merchandise, organizing shelves, straightening displays, and maintaining cleanliness.
  • Down stocks merchandise from overheads and backstock locations to maximize product availability.
  • Ensures store aisles, end caps, and displays are neat, safe, visually appealing, and customer ready.
  • Performs regular inventory management tasks, including cycle counts, zero counts, negative on‑hand investigations, and inventory audits.
  • Utilizes handheld inventory devices to verify inventory accuracy.
  • Researches and communicates inventory discrepancies to the Evening Operations Lead to support efforts to reduce shrink.
  • Executes planograms and merchandising schematics accurately.
  • Assists with the setup, transition, and breakdown of promotional and seasonal displays.
  • Installs price labels and signage prepared by leadership to support accurate pricing and promotional events.
  • Maintains a clean, organized, safe, and efficient stockroom by consolidating overstock and organizing inventory locations.
  • Is aware of potential security, safety, and/or shoplifting issues and reports any incidents or concerns immediately to management.
OTHER FUNCTIONS
  • Works collaboratively with the After Hours Supervisor and fellow associates to maintain a consistent operational rhythm.
  • Removes misplaced merchandise from the sales floor and returns items to their proper locations.
  • Assists store management in the annual preparation and taking of the store's physical inventory.
  • Performs general housekeeping duties to maintain the professional appearance of the sales floor and stockroom premises.
  • Promptly and accurately performs any other related operational duties as assigned by store management.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Equipment/Tools Used: Frequent use of handheld inventory devices. Occasional use of various store equipment such as a forklift, hand truck, pallet jack, box cutters, various hand tools, computers, printers, two‑way radios, and headsets.
  • Work Hours:
    Part‑time
    status consisting of flexible evening hours as required (less than 20 hours per week). Typically scheduled for 18 hours per week with specific cycle shifts:
    • Sunday: 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM
    • Tuesday: 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM
    • Wednesday: 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM
    • Thursday: 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM
  • Work Environment: Works under regular store conditions primarily after peak customer traffic has ended. Occasional exposure to heat, dust, stockrooms, and receiving/freight processing areas.
MENTAL DEMANDS
  • Requires strong attention to detail, concentration, and constant alertness to operational and safety standards.
  • Ability to understand, follow, and execute written and verbal instructions, planograms, and merchandising schematics.
  • Ability to work under evening operational deadlines, demonstrate effective decision‑making, and exercise sound judgment when researching inventory discrepancies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment to achieve nightly operational goals with minimal supervision.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Occasional push, pull, and/or lift up to 60 lbs. of materials or freight, including lifting and maneuvering merchandise using a hand truck or pallet jack.
