Job Summary
Drivers operate heavy‑duty trucks with front, side, or rear‑end load lift attachments depending on line of business and truck type. They transport material to disposal, transfer or recycling facilities when trucks reach legal load capacity. Commercial drivers provide pick‑up service of containers filled with waste or recyclable material, sometimes weighing over 1,000 pounds. They navigate high‑traffic roads, driveways, alleyways, and lots, and perform skilled backing maneuvers.
Residential drivers collect household waste or recyclable material, maneuvering safely in residential environments. Roll‑off drivers prepare, load, and transport large mobile open‑top and compactor containers, operating in tight overhead environments on industrial routes.
- Operate vehicle in accordance with Waste Management Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA, DOT, and all applicable laws.
- Perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections and document checks using the standard DVIR.
- Immediately report unsafe situations or service‑related issues to Operations Manager or Dispatch.
- Attend and participate in scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings as required.
- Work closely with Operations Manager to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices.
- Notify Operations Manager of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
- Notify Operations Manager or Dispatch of service interruptions, closed or impassable streets, heavy receptacles, or potential safety hazards.
- Communicate customer requests to Operations Manager or Dispatch.
- Completely dump all receptacles and leave customers’ location clean and free of debris.
- Follow route assignments and complete end‑of‑day documentation and checkout process.
- Perform all duties scheduled by Operations Manager or Dispatch and assist other drivers as directed to meet customer needs.
Required Qualifications
- 1 year operating a vehicle requiring a CDL, or 1 year equivalent military driving within the last 7 years.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English well enough to interact with the public, understand traffic signs, respond to official questions, and complete records or reports.
- Minimum age 18 years.
- Legally eligible to work in the country where the position is located.
- (CDL) Class A Commercial Driver License with an air‑brake endorsement upon hire, or (CDL) Class B Commercial Driver License with an air‑brake endorsement upon hire.

The expected base pay range for this position is $34.75 per hour. The specific salary offered may be influenced by relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location.
