The Department of Transportation - Highways, Maintenance Section has vacancies located in Kohala.

• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Class B, with endorsements: N (tank vehicles 1000 gallons or more), E (manual transmission), J (automatic or synchromesh transmission), and L (air brakes) at the time of application.

• Operate medium and heavy trucks and perform operational maintenance.
• Perform manual, unskilled and semi‑skilled work in general construction and adjacent road areas, and other related duties as assigned.

• One year of manual, unskilled and semi‑skilled work experience in general construction and/or building repair and maintenance, including operation of medium trucks (1½ tons or more, less than 5 tons) or heavy trucks (>5 tons) or relevant training.
• Valid CDL, Class B, with all required endorsements and no restrictions as listed above.
• Copy of CDL must be submitted at time of application; otherwise application will be rejected.
• Out-of-state CDL may be accepted, but must be transferred to Hawaii‑issued CDL prior to employment start date.

Federal Department of Transportation regulations require pre‑employment testing for controlled substances. Additional testing or in‑person interviews may be required.
