Staff Accountant

Description

We are looking for an experienced Part Time Staff Accountant to join our team in Kalamazoo, Michigan. This Contract to permanent part time position provides an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented individual to manage critical accounting tasks while contributing to the efficiency of our financial operations. The role involves a variety of responsibilities, including handling accounts payable, supporting month-end processes, and assisting with tax-related activities.

Responsibilities:

- Process accounts payable invoices on a daily basis to ensure timely and accurate payment.

- Manage biweekly payment runs while resolving vendor discrepancies effectively.

- Perform month-end close activities, including depreciation, prepaid expenses, and sales/use tax calculations.

- Enter credit card bills and reconcile transactions with precision.

- Analyze financial data using Excel to generate meaningful insights for decision-making.

- Assist with corporate tax return preparation and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.

- Maintain accurate journal entries and update the general ledger as needed.

- Provide support for cross-training initiatives in accounts receivable and other month-end duties.

- Communicate effectively with team members regarding credit card entries and other accounting matters.

- Optimize manual processes to improve workflow efficiency.

Requirements - Proven experience as a Staff Accountant or in a similar role.

- Strong knowledge of corporate tax, sales tax, and tax return preparation.

- Proficiency in processing journal entries and maintaining general ledger accuracy.

- Advanced Excel skills for financial data analysis and reporting.

- Ability to handle month-end close procedures independently.

- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.

- Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and vendors.

- Familiarity with manual accounting processes and attention to detail.
