General Description:
The Kalamazoo Gospel Ministries is a privately funded 501(c)3 non-profit, evangelical Christian ministry. Our designated purpose is religious, and we are a Christ-centered ministry dedicated to sharing the Gospel and helping the homeless and impoverished. Every position is essential to our ministry and its purpose. Each employee must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
Overview/SummaryThe Main Entry Desk and Office is the first point of contact for visitors and reflects the professionalism, kindness, and Christ’s love of KGM.
The Main Entry Staff greet in person and on the phone, and direct visitors to the appropriate department. Each team member performs various administrative duties under the direction of the VP of Operations.
There is to be someone at the front desk at all times unless stepping away briefly.
Essential Functions- Uphold and promote the organization’s culture and values; foster a grace-based environment that affirms KGM’s vision.
- Oversee all activities during the shift at the front desk of the main entry.
- Maintain a peaceful, orderly front office; answer calls and direct to proper departments.
- Receive and announce visitors/volunteers to designated team members.
- Work closely with front desk team members; ensure policy and procedures are followed for the main entrance.
- Train and grow the front desk team in administration performance.
- Order cleaning supplies for the front office and restroom weekly; use the Maintenance Supply Form; issue Purchase Orders as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized Front Office; assist with Community Service and Volunteers; scan workers in/out and process Mission .
- Receive mail and handle donations with appropriate security; sort and place mail in mailboxes; manage donation flow to the appropriate department.
- Handle monetary donations and new items donated at the front entrance; direct household donations to the Food Service Department where appropriate.
- Perform general clerical duties (photocopying, faxing, mailing, filing) and maintain all administration documents.
- High ethical standards with the ability to make smart, timely decisions.
- Ability to construct clear written correspondence and communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and accuracy in data handling.
- Ability to handle difficult visitors with firm grace and love, representing Christ and the Ministry in all interactions.
- Excellent organizational skills; knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and telephone protocol.
- Have a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ and a desire to serve Him; be a consistent witness for Jesus Christ.
- Exhibit spiritual maturity and a compassionate heart toward the homeless and hurting, with a passion for urban life transformation.
- Demonstrate courteous, Christ-like conduct with internal and external partners; ethical decision-making and integrity.
- Flexible, cooperative spirit; maintain a nicotine-free lifestyle as part of ministry values.
Occasionally = 1%–33%;
Frequently = 34%–66%;
Continuously = 67%–100%. Work will predominantly require an office environment.
Computer, Phone, Fax/Copier, Laminator, Metered Mail Machine.
Education / Experience and/or CertificationHigh School Diploma or equivalent;
Administration/Office experience preferred.
The pay range for this role is: $15 per hour
Salary Information$15 - $15 Hourly Wage
