Overview

A nationally recognized concrete contractor is seeking a Safety Representative to support a high-profile hockey arena and parking garage project in Kalamazoo, MI. This is a hands‑on, field‑focused role where you’ll work closely with project leadership to drive safety performance, conduct training, and maintain compliance on a major construction site. Candidates who are fluent in Spanish are highly preferred. Must hold an OSHA 30, plus construction safety experience.

The ideal candidate is a skilled communicator who can build relationships, lead safety discussions, and create alignment across diverse project teams. Responsibilities
  • Provide day‑to‑day safety oversight on an active hockey arena and parking garage construction project.
  • Lead and translate safety meetings while serving as the primary safety liaison for Spanish‑speaking field personnel.
  • Conduct jobsite safety inspections, audits, and observations to ensure compliance and safe work practices.
  • Partner with project leadership, superintendents, and craft workers to reinforce safety culture.
  • Support incident reporting, safety training, and ongoing concrete construction activities including slab and parking deck work.
  • Work weekends as part of the essential functions of the role.
Requirements
  • Fluent in Spanish; ability to lead and translate safety meetings.
  • 1+ year of construction safety experience required; field leadership ("triple hat") experience may be considered.
  • OSHA 30 certification and a High School Diploma or GED required.
