$70,000 - $80,000 annual salary
PurposeAs an Estimator at Ritsema Associates, you will prepare detailed cost estimates for projects, including materials, labor, and equipment. You will analyze project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to ensure accurate estimates. Additionally, you will work closely with project managers, architects, and contractors to gather necessary information for estimates and identify and quantify cost factors such as production time, materials, and labor expenses.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, and equipment.
- Review project drawings, specifications, and documentation for accuracy.
- Evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers to determine best value.
- Present cost summaries and reports to management.
- Stay informed on material pricing, industry trends, and construction methods.
- Work closely with project managers, architects, and contractors to gather project details.
- Support estimating and project teams with pricing and planning.
- Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Identify cost‑saving opportunities and assist with scheduling input.
- Communicate professionally and courteously with internal and external partners.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned to support project success.
- Maintain organized project files, documentation, and estimate records.
- Strong math and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn flooring and drywall estimating.
- Experience in construction estimating or a related field.
- Familiarity with estimating software and digital takeoff tools.
- Knowledge of flooring and/or drywall installation methods.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working at a computer.
- Occasionally lift or move office supplies or equipment up to 25 lbs.
- Perform repetitive tasks such as typing, filing, and using office equipment.
