Concrete Laborer
This role supports commercial foundation construction by assisting with all aspects of concrete work on an active job site. You will help set up and assemble forms for footings and foundation walls, move materials and tools, and assist with concrete pours and finishing. This position requires consistent heavy lifting, working outdoors in a busy construction environment, and closely following direction from the foreman to ensure safe, accurate, and efficient completion of foundation work.
Responsibilities- Report to the commercial job site each morning at the scheduled start time and prepare for daily tasks.
- Carry concrete materials, tools, and equipment from the truck to the work area in a safe and efficient manner.
- Construct and set wooden and metal forms for footings and foundation walls according to blueprints and layout instructions.
- Follow direction from the foreman on form placement, alignment, and bracing to ensure accurate foundations.
- Use tools such as hammers and tape measures to assemble, secure, and align forms to specified measurements.
- Frequently lift and carry materials weighing up to 100 lbs as part of daily construction activities.
- Assist with concrete pours, including placing, spreading, and consolidating concrete as directed.
- Perform basic concrete finishing using trowels and other hand tools to achieve required surface quality.
- Support general site tasks such as cleanup, organizing materials, and maintaining a safe and orderly work area.
- Work cooperatively with other trades and crew members on a busy construction site while adhering to safety guidelines.
- Concrete finishing or foundation experience in a construction environment.
- Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately for form layout and alignment.
- Capability to frequently lift up to 100 lbs and perform physically demanding labor throughout the day.
- Experience using basic construction tools such as hammers, trowels, and measuring tools.
- Possession of wet boots suitable for concrete work.
- Possession of a hard hat for use on the construction site.
- Possession of basic hand tools required for formwork and general labor tasks.
- Ability to follow directions from a foreman and work safely on an active construction site.
Skills & Qualifications
- Construction experience specific to concrete work, including forming and placing.
- Additional concrete finishing or foundation experience beyond the minimum requirements.
- Commercial construction experience on large or multi-trade job sites.
- Experience in general construction, carpentry, or labor-intensive contracting work.

WorkEnvironment
This position is based on a commercial construction site, specifically assigned to a senior living facility project in Kalamazoo that is expected to run through the end of fall at the latest. Work occurs outdoors in a dirty and dusty environment where multiple trades operate simultaneously. You will work around heavy machinery, power tools, and moving equipment, requiring constant attention to safety.
Typical start times are between 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m., Monday through Friday, with some Saturdays as needed, and the workday generally ends around 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., depending on workload and weather conditions. The role requires wearing appropriate construction attire, including wet boots and a hard hat, and being prepared for variable weather and site conditions common to active building projects.

This is a Permanent position based out of Kalamazoo, MI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
