Location: Baker Publishing Group office in Ada, MI
About this position:
Baker Publishing Group is seeking a candidate to fill a part-time Design Assistant position. The individual in this position will be responsible primarily for making reprint corrections in print books using InDesign and working closely with the editors and production staff. Other duties include archiving frontlist book files, preparing Microsoft Word files for typesetting, collecting design files when requested by other departments, and possibly helping with illustration verification (checking quality and availability).
Expected weekly commitment may range from 8 to 15 hours per week based on workload.
On-site work required until fully trained with the potential for a hybrid work schedule after that.
Qualifications:- Working knowledge of Adobe InDesign required
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and the MacOS preferred
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks, follow schedules, and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of paragraph and character styles a plus
Salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience. As a part-time position, benefits provided include paid sick leave, floating holiday, volunteer time off, 401k, and others.
