SCHOOL YEAR

SUMMARY:

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team at Parchment Northwood Elementary as a Computer and Career Skills instructor. This full‑time position is designed for a passionate educator who is committed to fostering a positive learning environment and equipping students with essential computer skills and career readiness competencies. The successful candidate will engage students in innovative ways, preparing them for future academic and professional success.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum focused on computer skills, including basic software applications, and digital literacy.
  • Teach career readiness skills, including resume writing, interview techniques, and workplace etiquette.
  • Create engaging lesson plans that incorporate hands‑on activities and real‑world applications.
  • Assess and evaluate student progress regularly, providing feedback and support to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Collaborate with other educators and staff to integrate technology and career skills across various subjects.
  • Organize and facilitate workshops, guest speaker sessions, and field trips to expose students to various career opportunities.
  • Maintain an organized and safe classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress and program initiatives.
  • Stay updated on current trends in technology and career education to continuously improve instructional practices.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Computer Science, Career Development, or a related field.
  • Valid teaching certification or license in the state of Michigan.
  • Experience teaching computer skills and career readiness to elementary students preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of computer applications, software, and digital tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of students, staff, and parents.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and a passion for education.
  • Familiarity with educational technology and online learning platforms is a plus.
