Upper Elementary Teacher – Climax-Scotts Elementary School

Job Summary:

Climax-Scotts Elementary School is seeking a passionate, student-centered, and highly qualified Upper Elementary Teacher to join our dedicated Panther Family beginning with the 2026–2027 school year. This is a permanent full-time position.

The ideal candidate will foster a nurturing, engaging, and academically rich classroom where upper elementary students are encouraged to grow with confidence, curiosity, and a love of learning. Our elementary school is known for its positive culture, collaborative staff, supportive administration, and strong partnerships with families and the community.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based instruction aligned with the Michigan Academic Standards

Create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes academic achievement and social-emotional growth

Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of all students

Utilize research-based instructional strategies and technology to enhance student learning

Assess student progress using a variety of formative and summative assessment methods and provide timely feedback

Maintain accurate student records, grades, and classroom documentation

Foster positive relationships and maintain regular communication with students, families, and colleagues

Collaborate with grade-level teams, intervention staff, and administration to support student success

Encourage creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, and a lifelong love of learning

Participate in professional development, staff meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and school activities

Maintain classroom management practices that promote respect, responsibility, and student engagement

Ensure compliance with district policies, state requirements, and educational best practices

Qualifications:

Valid Michigan Elementary Teaching Certificate required

Must meet all federal and state requirements to be considered Highly Qualified

Strong classroom management, instructional, organizational, and communication skills

Knowledge of elementary curriculum, instructional best practices, and assessment strategies

Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, colleagues, and the community

Experience teaching at the elementary level preferred, but not required

Preferred Qualities:

Passion for working with upper elementary students and supporting their academic, social, and emotional development

Commitment to creating an engaging, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment

Collaborative team player who values strong relationships with colleagues and families

Positive attitude, flexibility, and willingness to contribute to the overall success of the school community

Commitment to continuous professional growth and reflective teaching practices
