Minimum: $48,000.00
Midpoint: $55,000.00
Maximum: $64,321.00
Job Summary: The art Works Supervisor provides direct oversight to the art Works program, supervises art Works staff and volunteers. The position is responsible for providing a person-centered and safe environment for the art Works enterprise by exposing and facilitating the creation of a variety of art media and allowing the clients to use their own ideas in creating art to sell.
Provides training, information, and assistance to staff and volunteers so they can work effectively with the artists. Ensures art Works cleanliness and maintenance of supplies. Communicates with the art Works Manager as needed.
- Provide direction to assigned art Works staff and volunteers. Assign daily duties and lesson plans.
- Recommend to art Works Manager new services and modify existing services to meet client needs. Develop and implement activities that promote community inclusion and participation, independence and/or productivity in a professional setting.
- Develop and implement lesson plans for both large and small instruction.
- Oversee resources and strategies to achieve goals and objectives.
- Conduct client tours, intakes, annual meetings, periodic reviews, service team meetings, and participate in person-centered service planning process for all individuals in the program.
- Make recommendations for hire. Orient, train and develop staff and volunteer positions under supervision. Provide feedback and conduct evaluations with direct reports. Assist with updating job descriptions as needed.
- Make recommendations for MRC policies or procedures for assigned areas.
- Inform the art Works Manager of staff concerns, problems, issues, and failure to obtain results and take corrective action with the art Works Manager and Human Resources as appropriate.
- Measure results by determining performance indicators, determining critical data, and collecting data on a predetermined basis.
- Work hands‑on with artists to motivate and stimulate creativity, innovation, and independent problem solving to help artists reach their highest potential in an art career path.
- Foster progress through positive reinforcement, modeling positive employment behaviors, and giving constructive feedback. Enable artists to be as independent and self‑sufficient as possible.
- Possess knowledge of current trends in art in the community.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date progress notes.
- Work with customers in the store front, greeting customers, making sales, and being responsible for monies collected as backup for retail staff.
- Instruct artists in proper safety, care, and use of tools and supplies.
- Participate in art shows and events to promote the artists' work.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety protocols.
- Ensure that recipient rights and confidentiality are protected in accordance with agency policy and the Michigan Mental Health Code.
- Actively support and be knowledgeable about
1) culturally competent, recovery-based practices,
2) person-centered planning as a shared decision-making process with the individual who defines his or her own life goals and is assisted in developing a unique path toward those goals and
3) a trauma‑informed culture to aid clients in their recovery process. - Provide information and assistance to staff and volunteers so they can work effectively with the clients.
- Ensure smooth operation of activities and communicate pertinent information and changes to art Works Manager.
- Maintain ongoing communication with clients' families and supports program coordinators regarding their progress and development. Ensure satisfaction with the services offered.
- Maintain the organization and storage of all supplies at the studio. Conduct regular inventories of supplies and purchase necessary supplies when needed.
