Elementary Specials Teacher (Music, Art, and​/or STEAM) – Climax-Scotts Elementary School (.50 FTE

Climax-Scotts Elementary School is seeking a creative, student-centered, and enthusiastic 0.5 Elementary Specials Teacher to provide engaging instruction in one or more specialty areas, including Music, Art, and/or STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics). The ideal candidate will inspire curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning while supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of elementary students. This position will collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to provide enriching educational experiences aligned with district goals and state standards.

• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons in Music, Art, STEAM, or a combination of specialty areas as assigned
• Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that encourages creativity, exploration, and student engagement
• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students
• Assess student progress and provide meaningful feedback to students and families
• Integrate technology and hands-on learning opportunities into instruction when appropriate
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to support cross-curricular learning and student success
• Maintain instructional materials, equipment, and classroom spaces in a safe and organized manner
• Participate in school events, performances, exhibitions, showcases, or other activities related to the specialty area as appropriate
• Communicate effectively with students, families, colleagues, and administration
• Support school-wide initiatives that promote positive behavior, character development, and student achievement
• Maintain accurate records and comply with district policies, procedures, and state requirements

• Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with appropriate elementary certification required
• Endorsement(s) and/or demonstrated experience in Music, Art, STEAM, or related specialty instructional areas preferred
• Knowledge of elementary instructional practices and child development
• Ability to create engaging, hands-on learning experiences for young learners
• Strong classroom management and organizational skills
• Ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues, families, and community stakeholders
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)

• Passion for fostering creativity, innovation, and lifelong learning in elementary students
• Ability to inspire students through engaging and interactive instructional experiences
• Willingness to collaborate across grade levels and content areas
• Commitment to creating an inclusive and welcoming learning environment for all students
• Flexibility and enthusiasm for teaching multiple grade levels and specialty subjects as assigned
