The Kalamazoo Regional Educational Service Agency (KRESA) is a critical part of Michigan’s education system serving the Greater Kalamazoo regionand provides specialized services to schools and communitiesandoptimizesresources by centralizing innovative programs and services. We partner with schooldistrictsand the broader community to offer essential programs including early childhood education, special education,career learning, andeducatordevelopment, ensuring that learners of all ages receive the support they need.

We arecurrentlyseekinga Culinary Technical Assistant
at the Career Connect Campus in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

The essential responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Support KRESA anti-bias, anti-racism principles, prioritizingequitableopportunity, programrepresentationand support for all students
  • Assist the CTECulinary

    Instructorin the planning and implementation of educational activities.
  • Supplement instruction byassistingthe CTE Instructor withadditionalstudentsupports(i.e.individual and small group instruction, drill activities, student accommodations, etc.).
  • Provide and document instructional accommodations provided to support student success in the program (i.e.additional testing time, modified tests/assignments, reading assessments aloud, etc.).
  • Assist with student supervision inlaband adherence to safety procedures and protocols.
  • Meet with Student Engagement Coordinator monthly to report on student progress.
  • Assess Culinary related skillsincludingcooking methods and techniques,food safety,culinary math and measurements,menudesignand management, etc.
  • Assist with work-based learning experiences
  • Model 21stCentury skills and encourage their use by students
  • Assist with student leadership development and related activities
  • Attend professional development and other meetings asappropriateandrequested.
  • If needed, communicate with students, parents, CTE staff, and local school staff.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Maintain instructional/classroom records as requested/required.
  • Maintain regular consistent attendance and punctuality.
  • Maintain a professional personal appearance.
  • Adhere to classroom health and safety procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned by teacher/administration.

Must have knowledge of andcomply withthe policies and procedures contained in the Kalamazoo RESA handbook.

Education and/or

Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Recent and relevant work experience in Culinary Arts
  • Strongly Preferred:
    Currently pursuing a degree/technical education in Culinary

    Arts, orworkingin thefield.
  • Relevant industry certifications or credentials are beneficial.
Other Skill & Abilities:
  • Positive attitude toward high school students.
  • Safety mindset.
  • Basic computer skills.

Thisis a 11-month calendar position in job grade 13 with anannual rate of pay between $33,885 to $48,228.
