NOTE - This role requires solid hands-on detailed level design experience gained within power inverters, converters or OBCs for electrified mobility applications.
The company is involved with the design of electric drivetrain systems for e-mobility and clean energy applications (e.g. automotive electric vehicle, UAVs, etc). Candidates with experience of designing power converters / inverters or OBC for such applications are required.
It would ideally suit a principal electronics engineer but the company is open to considering a senior engineer with the right aptitude.
- Power electronics design and development (HV inverters, converters of OBCs)
- Experience with a variety of power converter topologies (e.g. Flyback converter, Forward converter, Half-bridge / Full-bridge, Push-pull converter, Resonant) and their application.
- Experience of the design of high-power electronic converters for automotive / electric vehicle applications would be great.
- Technical leadership experience and customer facing capability
The role could suit an engineer with a masters or PhD with 5-8 years of relevant post-academic industry experience or more. Candidates should have:
- Strong communication skills (used to working directly with customers)
- Excellent track record in the design of power electronics (For example - isolated power converters – high power, ideally 30
-200 kW - including magnetics) - Experience of tools such as Altium, Simscape & PLECS for electronics design and simulation.
Required experience / skills: Senior / Principal Power Electronics Design Engineer
- Degree / master’s degree or PhD in electrical, electronic engineering – focusing on power electronics
- Excellent track record in the design of power electronics for electric powertrain applications
- Experience with a variety of power converter topologies (e.g. Flyback converter, Forward converter, Half-bridge / Full-bridge, Push-pull converter, Resonant) and their application.
- Evidence of taking relevant designs from blank sheet / concept through to prototype and ideally to series production (flexible)
- Able to work in a fast-paced, customer centric environment.
Beneficial:
- Experience of thermal management / cooling of power electronics systems would be great.
