Junior Design Engineer

Multiple Locations Across Michigan (North Kent (Grand Rapids), Kalamazoo, West Branch)

Starting at $28-$30/hr

Insight Global is partnering with Leidos to hire multiple Distribution Design Engineers to support the modernization and upgrade of electric utility distribution systems for a major energy provider. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with engineering, utility, construction, or design experience who are looking to grow their careers in the power and utility industry.

• Develop engineering and construction design packages for electric distribution projects
• Create work packages, bills of materials, scopes of work, and construction plans
• Perform field visits to gather measurements, photos, and project data
• Coordinate project schedules and support construction planning activities
• Utilize GIS, CAD, Work Management Systems (WMS), and other engineering software tools
• Perform engineering calculations related to:
• Pole and structural analysis
• Voltage drop and flicker studies
• Spend approximately 60-80% of your time developing design packages for construction crews

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering
• OR an Associate's Degree with relevant industry experience
• 1+ year of experience in one of the following:
• Electric utility design engineering
• Utility consulting
• Experience with AutoCAD and/or Micro Station
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment and meet productivity goals
• Reliable vehicle and valid driver's license
• Interest in utility infrastructure, power systems, and electric distribution design
• Opportunity to work on critical infrastructure projects
