The Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra has been an integral part of the community for over a century, providing transformative musical experiences and fostering music education. The orchestra, led by Music Director Julian Kuerti, performs a diverse range of concerts and engages with the local community through innovative programs. The Horn 2 position is a key role within the horn section, with responsibilities including participation in various orchestral concert series and community events throughout the season.
The performance calendar for the KSO runs from September to August, with the majority of services scheduled between Labor Day and Memorial Day. The selected musician will have the right of first refusal for all services requiring the Horn 2 position, which includes a guaranteed number of services per season and additional opportunities for chamber music and educational ensembles. Compensation includes a per-service rate, guaranteed services, and additional benefits such as paid absences and travel reimbursements.
Candidates must adhere to the organization's policies and maintain eligibility to work in the United States. The anticipated start date for this position is November 2026.
