Accounting Manager

Description We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to join our team on a contract basis in Kalamazoo, Michigan. This role is crucial in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records and supporting diverse accounting operations. The ideal candidate will bring a strong attention to detail, advanced technical skills, and a commitment to maintaining compliance with financial standards.

Responsibilities:

- Oversee and maintain the accuracy of general ledger and balance sheet accounts.

- Handle incoming payments through check, credit card, and electronic funds transfer methods.

- Assist in managing daily cash flow activities and forecasting cash needs.

- Support monthly reconciliation and tracking of commercial credit card transactions in the general ledger.

- Manage Representative Payee accounts, ensuring compliance and accurate records for prepaid card programs.

- Collaborate in the annual audit process for the Representative Payee program.

- Update and maintain tenant ledgers for the property management program with precision and timeliness.

- Provide backup support for payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable processes.

- Conduct internal audits to assess financial procedures and ensure compliance.

- Manage grant compliance by maintaining accurate records and reporting requirements. Requirements - Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and complex formulas.

- Experience with Financial Edge software is strongly preferred.

- Knowledge of medical billing practices is advantageous.

- Familiarity with Representative Payee programs is a plus.

- Prior experience with payroll systems is preferred.

- Strong understanding of month-end close processes and account reconciliations.

- Demonstrated ability to manage journal entries and ensure accurate financial reporting.

- Experience in conducting financial statement audits and maintaining compliance standards.
