Job Summary

As a Tax Senior Manager, you will oversee and review financial information for clients, including business and individual tax returns, gaining exposure to a diverse client base across various industries.

You will manage client relationships and act as a liaison between internal staff and leadership to ensure high‑quality work is delivered.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement comprehensive tax planning strategies aligned with client financial objectives to minimize liabilities.
  • Analyze complex tax scenarios such as mergers, acquisitions, and strategic transactions, providing optimal solutions.
  • Manage a portfolio of tax engagements, supervise tax staff, and review their work for accuracy, compliance, and adherence to firm standards.
  • Monitor engagement progress, budgets, and timelines, adjusting as needed to meet client expectations.
  • Stay abreast of evolving tax laws, regulations, and industry developments, applying knowledge to client engagements and internal training.
  • Lead tax research efforts to address client inquiries, resolve complex issues, and guide decision‑making.
  • Communicate complex tax concepts and strategies to clients, tailoring explanations and addressing questions.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to clients on tax matters, providing insights into financial situations and potential implications.
  • Maintain strong client relationships as a trusted tax advisor.
  • Review and oversee tax return preparation for accuracy and compliance, ensuring adherence to quality control standards.
  • Manage filing deadlines, extensions, and compliance requirements to avoid penalties.
  • Collaborate with other tax professionals to share insights, knowledge, and best practices.
  • Supervise and mentor tax staff, providing guidance, training, and feedback.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment and participate in internal training sessions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve tax workflows, processes, and methodologies.
  • Ensure compliance with internal quality control procedures, including review and approval of filings and deliverables.
  • Collaborate with partners and senior management on business development, client leads, and firm growth strategy.
  • Participate in proposal development and presentations to prospective clients.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in a professional service environment, such as a CPA firm or financial consulting firm.
  • CPA or Enrolled Agent license.
  • Experience with CCH Prosystem FX, Axcess Tax, Axcess Document, Axcess Workstream, Thomson Reuters Fixed Assets CS, and Checkpoint for Tax Research.
  • Compliance with the minimum CPE credit requirement.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple engagements and supervise staff.
  • Experience in tax planning, research, and client advisory roles is preferred.
  • Additional industry or specialization certifications may be required for specific positions.
  • Preferred:
    Juris Doctor (JD) degree for specialty positions.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
  • Work conducted in a professional office environment with minimal distractions.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and using a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
  • Travel may be frequent and unpredictable, depending on client needs.
