Patient Transporter (Part‑time)

• Beacon Kalamazoo – 1521 Gull Road, Kalamazoo, MI 49048
• Schedule:
  
  Part‑time;
  Second/ night shift; hours may vary. Every other weekend and every other holiday. Further details upon interview.
• Requirement:
  Previous patient services experience is preferred.
• Fixed pay rate: $15.00 per hour

• Properly and safely transport patients, secure IVs, drainage tubes, etc., and secure patient.
• Use wheelchairs and other approved rolling stock to carry out the essential duties of the position.
• Demonstrate competency in transporting all specific age groups.
• Ensure the safe, timely and accurate transport of patients to their destination using the proper requested equipment.
• Communicate effectively with nursing personnel, clinicians, technicians, or reception and dispatch.
• Ensure the comfort of the patient by being attentive, offering blankets, checking modesty, and only engaging in appropriate conversation involving patients. Never transport patients in severe pain.
• Alert nursing staff immediately to any signs of patient distress or equipment malfunction.
• Maintain equipment and report equipment needing repairs.
• Comply with regulatory agency standards, including federal, state and JCAHO.
• Adhere to facility confidentiality and patient’s rights policy as outlined in the facilities HIPAA policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
