All positions are subject to criminal background checks and fingerprinting. This is a position located at Kalamazoo Psychiatric Hospital in Kalamazoo, MI. • Provide direct, person-centered care and services to individuals who are acutely or chronically ill with mental illness and/or developmental disabilities, including health care, activities of daily living (ADL) support, and behavior management as directed by the treatment team, with specific assignments to individuals or groups.
• Offer supervision and supervision-related activities in a therapeutic milieu, participate in active treatment and psychosocial rehabilitation programs, and assist with health care plans.
• Assist residents in attending community activities and medical appointments; accompany residents during inter-hospital transfers and as needed in community settings.
• Assist with daily living activities (bathing, grooming, mealtime, dressing) and maintain safety and accountability within the resident environment; document care and maintain records per hospital policy and Nursing Standards of Practice.
• Implement emergency or high-risk procedures in accordance with policy/standards (e.g., seclusion, restraint, CPR) as required; ensure a safe environment and may perform light housekeeping duties.
• Respond to and monitor resident needs, provide active observation of resident whereabouts and safety, and document observations in the medical record.
• Serve as a positive role model and collaborate with professional team members to modify and implement individual plans of service for residents.
• Comply with mandatory overtime, holiday work, and weekend work as required by the position.

• Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school.
• Resident Care Aide 6:
  No specific type or amount of experience is required.
• Resident Care Aide 7:
  One year of experience as a Resident Care Aide and successful completion of the Department’s Resident Care Aide training program.
• Resident Care Aide E8:
  Two years of experience as a Resident Care Aide, including one year as a Resident Care Aide 7.
• Must be available for mandatory overtime and meet all job-specific requirements, including background checks and fingerprinting.
