About the Opportunity
: Kalamazoo Valley Community College is seeking candidates who can provide computer, printer, audio/visual and other support to students, faculty and staff at the Arcadia Commons Campus (ACC) and the Bronson Healthy Living Campus (BHLC). These are our downtown Kalamazoo campuses and include Anna Whitten Hall, The Kalamazoo Valley Museum, the Center for New Media, the Culinary and Allied Health building and the Food Innovation Center.
An additional responsibility of all persons assigned to this job title is to support the instructional mission of the institution and to promote positive student and customer relations.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
:
- Install new computer hardware and software for administrative and instructional use; upgrade existing installations, and support their use by faculty, staff and students.
- Install, program, support and troubleshoot classroom audio/visual systems and software. Monitor the audio/visual request system and deliver equipment.
- Install, support, troubleshoot and repair printers and copiers including their connections to network print servers and the m.
- Provide lead technical support for systems in the Kalamazoo Valley Museum, including the planetarium, Mary Jane Stryker Theater, history gallery, science gallery, point of sale system, collections database and temporary exhibits.
- Provide lead technical support for systems at the CAH building including point of sale system, demonstration kitchen/classroom and the simulation environment.
- Install, program and support the computer classrooms and lab at the ACC; provide direct student support in the lab.
- Install, support and troubleshoot video surveillance systems; install, support and troubleshoot the door access control/m.
- Wire network connections for computers and other devices connected to the network. Provide network communication closet punch down block wiring and field terminations.
- Install, monitor and adjust equipment and settings for the wireless networks.
- Install and support phone devices at ACC and BHLC.
Needed Skills
:
- Skill in diagnosing and correcting software, hardware, network and printer issues.
- Skill in training, tutoring and assisting others.
- Skill in oral and written communications.
- Skill in maintaining inventory and records.
- Skill in time management and organization.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Appropriate education, training, experience and talents are requirements. An example of this would be an associate degree in computer information systems or a related field and one year of related experience.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel between Kalamazoo Valley Community College campuses.
Preferred Qualifications and
Experience:
- Knowledge of JAMF and MECM is strongly desired.
Physical Demands: Sitting, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm, hours may vary.
