Production Worker – Kalamazoo MI
Arvco Container Corporation is hiring Production Workers for our Kalamazoo MI manufacturing plant – Openings on 2nd Shift.
One year background in a manufacturing environment is required.
Wages and BenefitsStarting wages $17.00 – $20.00 per hour, depending on position and experience. Benefits include: 40 hours paid vacation after 90 days, 401(k) with company match, choice of BCBS health insurance plans, paid health insurance opt‑out program, and company‑paid life and disability benefits.
Work ScheduleRegularly scheduled for 40 hours per week plus mandatory overtime. Applicants must be willing and able to work overtime and weekends as required.
Primary Responsibilities- Occasional lifting of 50 pounds and frequent lifting of 10‑20 pounds during a normal work day.
- Properly use and understand required measurement equipment including tape measures, micrometers, and other tools.
- Participate in the principles of teamwork.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organized work environment.
- Operate and perform at speeds necessary to meet production demand.
- Must be able to bend, reach, and stand for 10 hours.
- Hand‑eye coordination.
- Attend all mandatory safety training supplied by the employer.
- Continuously monitor and assure products meet quality standards.
- Accountable for machine set‑up as well as adjustments of machines and equipment.
- Adhere to company policies and work in accordance with all safety regulations, quality control procedures and internal systems.
- Follow product specifications and layouts, supervisor instructions and job checks/orders.
- Report safety concerns to supervision, including potential injuries or near misses.
- Accountable for product quality and accurate production reporting.
- Be actively in control of the operation of machinery and equipment in the work area.
- Recommend or initiate improvements to production methods, good manufacturing practices, safety, and product quality.
- Increase efficiencies of department and work crew.
- Problem‑solve and analyze.
- Estimate, stage, requisition, and inspect materials used within area of responsibility.
- Report pertinent information, both routine and unusual, to supervision in a timely and effective manner.
Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
Background / Experience / Abilities- Work experience in the corrugated industry is a plus.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Good mathematical skills.
- Ability to read factory layouts for specific manufacturing details.
- Ability to read a tape measure accurately.
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent, with relevant manufacturing background and work experience.
