The Wide Format Print Lead is responsible for leading Kal Blue Group's wide format production department, overseeing both roll-to-roll and rigid print operations from file preparation through finished product.
This position owns the quality, efficiency, workflow, and day-to-day execution of wide format production while supporting, coaching, and directing Digital Print Assistants and Specialists within the department. The Wide Format Print Lead is expected to continuously improve processes, maximize equipment utilization, reduce waste, and ensure every project meets Kal Blue Group's standards for quality and on-time delivery.
This is a hands-on production role with direct responsibility for customer satisfaction, production flow, department performance, and profitability.
Key Responsibilities- Operate and direct all wide format printing and finishing equipment
- Ensure all jobs are printed accurately according to specifications, color standards, and timelines
- Monitor print quality and make real-time adjustments to maintain consistency
- Assist with trimming, mounting, laminating, and finishing of printed materials
- Ensure jobs move efficiently from print to finishing to delivery
- Maintain an organized and clean production environment
- Constantly seek opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, and throughput.
- Recommend equipment, workflow, or process improvements.
- Reduce waste through better nesting, planning, and material utilization.
- Help develop and document standard operating procedures.
- Support implementation of new technology and automation.
- Maintain Kal Blue Group’s high standards for brand consistency and output
- Inspect all output for quality, accuracy, and consistency
- Take ownership of errors and proactively collaborate with the team to resolve issues
- Ensure all work meets Kal Blue Group’s production and brand standards
- Consistent on-time production of wide format jobs
- High-quality output with minimal rework or waste
- Efficient machine utilization and workflow management
- Strong attention to detail and production accuracy
- Continuously improve department processes and productivity.
- 2+ years of experience in wide format printing or large format graphics production preferred
- Experience with roll-to-roll and/or flatbed (rigid) printers
- Familiarity with RIP software and color management workflows
- Understanding of various print materials and applications
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Familiarity with cutting tables, laminators, and finishing equipment
- Knowledge of ICC color profiles and color calibration – preferred, not required
