Due to continued growth, we are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer
- Barrel Machining to support production operations in Kalamazoo, MI
. This role is ideal for a hands-on manufacturing professional with strong machining expertise, Mazatrol programming experience, and a passion for continuous improvement.
The Manufacturing Engineer will provide day-to-day production support for barrel machining operations while driving improvements in process efficiency, equipment utilization, documentation accuracy, and manufacturing capacity. The position involves Mazatrol programming, process optimization, tooling updates, changeover reduction initiatives, and preventive maintenance program development in a high-mix manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop, maintain, and optimize Mazatrol programs for barrel machining operations.
- Support machining processes involving Mills, Lathes, and Mill-Turn equipment
. - Update and maintain tooling drawings, manufacturing prints, and process documentation to support production requirements.
- Manage and revise Solumina work instructions, routings, and manufacturing process documentation
. - Identify and implement changeover reduction initiatives to improve machine uptime, throughput, and manufacturing efficiency.
- Establish and support a comprehensive Preventive Maintenance (PM) program for manufacturing equipment and tooling.
- Collaborate with Production, Quality, and Maintenance teams to resolve process issues and improve operational performance.
- Support engineering changes and ensure manufacturing documentation remains accurate and production-ready.
- Standardize manufacturing methods to improve process repeatability, reduce variation, and support operator training.
- Troubleshoot machining and process-related issues to support uninterrupted production.
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline. Equivalent experience will be considered.
- Experience supporting CNC machining operations
, including Mills, Lathes, and Mill-Turn equipment. - Working knowledge of Mazatrol programming and machining process optimization.
- Experience updating manufacturing documentation, tooling prints, and controlled drawings.
- Familiarity with Solumina or similar Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
- Experience with Enovia PLM or comparable Product Lifecycle Management systems.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing
, setup reduction, and continuous improvement methodologies. - Strong problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently within a fast-paced production environment.
- Experience supporting aerospace, defense, industrial manufacturing, or precision machining environments.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance program development and implementation.
- Experience driving productivity, quality, and cycle-time improvement initiatives.
- Familiarity with GD&T and machining process capability improvements.
