Position Title

PRN CNM / NP - OBGYN (Downtown Kalamazoo) –

Location:

Bronson Medical Group – Bronson Methodist Hospital – Kalamazoo, MI

Overview

Bronson Medical Group is seeking a PRN Certified Nurse Midwife or Nurse Practitioner to join our Obstetrics & Gynecology Specialty team. The practice currently has 11 OB‑GYN physicians, 4 midwives, and 3 nurse practitioners. Bronson is a designated Children’s Hospital with a Level III NICU, pediatric and PICU beds, and 24/7 MFM and neonatology coverage.

Responsibilities
  • Practitioner:
    • Perform comprehensive assessments and manage high‑risk, complex patients.
    • Identify assessment, diagnostic strategies, and therapeutic interventions using evidence‑based practice.
    • Include patient values and beliefs in care plans.
    • Develop, implement, and evaluate patient education programs.
    • Administer physical care as needed to meet outcomes.
    • Collaborate with physicians, nursing personnel, and other health professionals to set and evaluate cost‑effective outcomes.
    • Provide prescriptive authority, procedures, referrals, and therapies per state and federal laws.
    • Inform patients of risks, benefits, costs, and alternatives of treatments.
    • Evaluate progress toward outcome attainment.
  • Consultant:
    • Provide expertise for complex patients through consultative process.
    • Synthesize data, theoretical frameworks, and evidence for recommendations.
    • Consult with administrative and supervisory staff to address health care issues.
    • Ensure team efficiency and patient involvement in decision‑making.
    • Develop standards of care via policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Educator:
    • Serve as educational resource for nursing staff on clinical paths and care planning.
    • Use teaching principles to guide patients, families, and communities about health issues.
    • Assist in evaluating health information resources for accuracy and accessibility.
    • Improve clinical skills across all health care provider levels.
  • Leadership:
    • Assess adequacy of nursing and health services.
    • Implement quality improvement and cost‑benefit changes.
    • Design, organize, and evaluate health care systems for continuous improvement.
    • Mentor and support professional development of staff.
    • Coordinate system and community resources to enhance care delivery.
    • Maintain compliance with laws, ethics, and policies.
  • Research:
    • Use research to identify and address clinical nursing problems and improve practice.
    • Plan, implement, or evaluate nursing research studies.
    • Publish, present, and disseminate findings.
  • Professional Development:
    • Assess personal practice against professional standards.
    • Seek feedback from peers and patients.
    • Maintain certifications and stay current with trends via seminars and conferences.
    • Contribute to a positive work climate and team participation.
  • Operating

    Skills:

    • Maintain BCLS and NRP certifications.
    • Operate basic computer programs for documentation and record‑keeping.
    • Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary groups.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree (MSN or MS in Nursing) preferred with minimum 2 years of recent clinical experience in OBGYN.
  • BSN with midwifery certificate will be considered.
  • Certification as an Advanced Practice Nurse in the specialty (valid in Michigan). Must maintain certifications.
  • Previous teaching experience preferred.
  • Effective interpersonal, communication, and collaborative skills.
Shift Details
  • Variable time; part‑time; scheduled weekly hours 10.
  • Cost Center 8610 Bronson Women’s Services Downtown (BMH).
