Registered Nurse (RN) – Neonatal ICU (NICU)

Bronson Methodist Hospital – Full‑time – 12‑hour day shift – 36 weekly hours.

Bronson Methodist Hospital, 4th Floor ICU, Michigan.

• Utilize the nursing process of assessment, planning, diagnosing, implementation and evaluation to manage care for neonate patients.
• Coordinate care provided by other health professionals and delegate selected acts within the scope of nursing practice.
• Provide selected aspects of physical nursing within the nurse’s scope, adapting to patient acuity and complexity.
• Document and communicate during each tour of duty the patient’s response to care, consumption of resources and anticipated needs.
• Collect comprehensive data pertinent to patient health, including physical and developmental needs, vital signs and deviations from normal.
• Assess and confirm patient problems with patient and family when appropriate, and identify expected outcomes.
• Develop individualized plan of care using clinical pathways, patient input and interdisciplinary data.
• Implement the prescribed plan, including medication administration, evidence‑based interventions, comfort and safety measures, patient education and delegation of tasks.
• Evaluate progress toward expected outcomes and adjust care as needed.
• Participate in quality improvement activities and use results to update nursing practice.
• Maintain professional records, attend peer review and support a compassionate and healthy workplace.
• Serve as a patient advocate, integrating ethics and research findings into practice.

• Interpret procedure cards, assess carts and arrange supplies.
• Act as specialist for circulating staff and support multiple services.
• Perform operating procedures in neuro and ortho, including spinal fusion services.
• Make after‑hour call on a rotational basis.

• Associate’s degree in Nursing is required;
  Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred – must be obtained within eight (8) years of hire date.
• Licensed Registered Nurse in good standing for the state of Michigan.
• BLS certification required at completion of core orientation;
  Critical Care or ALS may be required depending on the unit.
• Current driver’s license in Michigan and proof of insurance for BAH.
• Proficiency reading and interpreting data from computer systems and equipment.
• Excellent verbal, written and electronic communication skills.
• Ability to work consistently in an environment with high levels of mental and visual fatigue, and to lift up to 50 pounds.

• Emergency Department: SALT triage, ESI triage and NIH Stroke Scale within 90 days of hire.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC, only for FT and part‑time) within 6 months of hire.
• All NICU staff must obtain Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 6 months.
• Maternal‑Baby units require Electronic Fetal Monitoring Certification within 6 months of completing intermediate fetal monitoring.

12‑hour day shift – Full‑time – 36 weekly hours.
