This position is charged with the responsibility for the nursing care given to patients on the assigned unit for the eight hour shift. This responsibility encompasses the supervisory and clinical functioning of the unit and the performance of the subordinate nursing staff. The purpose is to ensure optimal nursing care, a therapeutic and safe environment, and a program of treatment to meet the individual patient's needs.

In a training capacity, functions as RN Shift Supervisor providing nursing care and monitoring. Nursing care delivery for patients with physical and psychological conditions. Supervises, assigns and evaluates staff. Trains staff, patients, and their families. Monitors for safe, sanitary and humane environment. Supports through positive behavior and attitude, the affirmative action plan, the mission, vision and values of Kalamazoo Psychiatric Hospital and the Department of Health and Human Services.

Possession of a diploma, associate's, bachelor's, or master's degree in nursing accepted for licensure by the Michigan Board of Nursing.

Registered Nurse Manager (Recruit) 12:
No specific type or amount is required.

Registered Nurse Manager 12:
One year of experience equivalent to a Registered Nurse P11. Possession of a master's degree in nursing or possession of a bachelor's degree in nursing and six months of experience equivalent to a Registered Nurse P11 may be substituted for the experience requirement for the Registered Nurse Manager 12 position.

This position is located at the Kalamazoo Psychiatric Hospital. 1312 Oakland Drive, Kalamazoo, MI 49008. Individuals in these positions may be eligible to work 12 hour shifts.
