Job Description Unit Coordinator (RN) – NICU (Nights)
Up to $10,000 Sign-On Bonus
Location:
Bronson Methodist Hospital (BMH)
Shift: Nights with occasional variable shifts
Schedule:
This full-time role (40 hours/week) typically includes two 12-hour clinical shifts and two 8-hour office shifts. Schedule may vary based on patient census and department needs.
About the Role Join our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) team in a leadership role where you can make a meaningful impact on our smallest patients and their families. As a Unit Coordinator, you’ll partner closely with nursing leadership to support daily operations, guide and mentor staff, and help ensure exceptional, high-quality care.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced NICU nurse who is ready to grow into leadership while remaining clinically connected.
What You’ll Do Coordinate day-to-day unit operations, including patient flow and staff assignments
Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for NICU nursing staff
Support staffing and scheduling needs, including real-time adjustments on nights
Partner with leadership on hiring, onboarding, and staff development
Provide coaching and feedback to support team member growth and performance
Promote a positive, collaborative team environment and assist with conflict resolution
Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards
Assist with audits, process improvements, and implementation of new practices
Act as a point of contact for staff, providers, and internal partners during night shift operations
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required
Two (2) years of clinical experience required
Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing in the State of Michigan
Preferred Qualifications 1 year of NICU RN experience
Previous leadership experience (formal or informal)
Master’s degree in Nursing Advanced nursing certification

Ability to work independently and make decisions during off-shift hours
Comfort with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, etc.) and basic data tracking
Additional Details Physical requirements include occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs)

Under general supervision from the unit manager and/or director, and in accordance with the policies and guidelines established within the organization and individual unit, the unit coordinator’s priority is to function as leader and clinical liaison with staff, physicians and management, providing continuity of leadership day to day. The unit coordinator acts as a role model, mentor, coach and resource person to staff to ensure all unit standards are maintained and to encourage a team environment.
