Job Overview
Location:
BMH Bronson Methodist Hospital.
Title:
Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor & Delivery (L&D) – Bronson Methodist Hospital – PRN (12 Night). The RN will manage patient care throughout the stay, using the nursing process, coordinating care with other professionals, delegating tasks within scope, documenting responses, and ensuring timely discharge.
- Under general supervision, manage care delivery for patients throughout their stay to achieve quality outcomes and timely discharge; utilize assessment, planning, diagnosing, implementation, and evaluation; coordinate care with other professionals.
- Delegate selected acts, tasks, or functions within the scope of nursing practice and to patient care assistants and universal service assistants.
- Provide selected aspects of physical care within the scope of nursing practice, appropriate to patient acuity and complexity.
- Document and communicate during each tour of duty the patient’s response to care, consumption of resources, and anticipated needs.
- Continuously assess patient vital signs and condition to detect deviations from normal.
- Implement individualized interventions, administer prescribed medication and treatment, and maintain patient comfort and safety.
- Develop and evaluate patient care plans, coordinate discharge planning, and integrate clinical pathways.
- Participate in quality improvement activities, use results to initiate changes, and maintain ongoing professional development.
- Collaborate with patients, families, and the healthcare team to effect positive outcomes; integrate ethical provisions and evidence-based practice.
- For Scrub RN duties: interpret procedure cards, assess case carts, identify missing supplies, anticipate physician needs, observe patient and procedural changes, update case information, support circulators, perform scrub duties across services, handle after‑hour calls, and maintain documentation of swing bed patients for specified hospitals.
- Associate’s degree in Nursing required;
Bachelor's degree preferred and must be obtained within eight years of hire. - Licensed Registered Nurse in good standing with the State of Michigan.
- BLS certification required by completion of core orientation.
- Critical care or ALS certification required for some RNs; unit‑specific certification for Labor & Delivery and Mother/Baby/Antepartum at BMH & BBC.
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring Certification through PQF or NCC required within six months of completing intermediate fetal monitoring.
- Ability to read, interpret, and analyze data from computer systems and equipment; excellent verbal, written, and electronic communication skills.
- Physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds, assist with heavier tasks, and maintain sustained attention on a computer for 40‑70% of the shift.
12‑Hour Night Shift, Part‑time. Scheduled Weekly
