Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Neuro Vascular Unit (Full Time, 12‑hour shifts)

• Assist the Registered Nurse with prescribed medical treatment and personal care services within the scope of practical nursing for ill, injured, convalescent, and disabled patients.
• Collect and document patient data, including vital signs, food and fluid intake, output, weight, and medication administration.
• Pass medications, administer IV therapy, and manage IV fluid and medication administration safely.
• Provide direct patient care such as bathing, dressing, turning, and assisting with mobility and transfers.
• Perform wound care: dressing, douches, enemas, and other basic procedures.
• Collect samples (urine, blood, sputum) for laboratory testing.
• Assist in the preparation and feeding of patients, including those on prescribed diets.
• Maintain a clean, orderly environment and inventory supplies.
• Provide patient education and discharge teaching materials; document educational activities.
• Respond to call lights and monitor alarms, assisting patients and families as needed.
• Communicate with the Registered Nurse, physicians, and other team members regarding patient status and interventions.

• High school diploma or GED.
• Successful completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing program.
• Licensed Practical Nurse in good standing with the State of Michigan.
• BLS certification by the end of the core orientation period.
• Ability to perform specific clinical competencies required of LPNs within an approximate three‑month orientation period.
• Ability to move quickly and respond to emergency situations.
• Proficiency in entering and retrieving data from computerized systems.
• Capability to rotate within the service line and related areas as needed.
• Effective communication skills with patients, visitors, and all members of the care delivery team; clear, grammatically correct speech and written communication.
