Job Overview

Registered Nurse (RN) – Children's Volume Influx Pool (CVIP), Bronson Methodist Hospital, Full-time, 12 Hour Night Shift.

Location:

BMH Bronson Methodist Hospital.

• Manages the care delivery for patients in the hospital throughout the length of stay to achieve quality outcomes and timely discharge.
• Provides direct patient care and demonstrates competencies specific to the population served.
• Read, interpret, and analyze data from various computer systems and equipment in order to set an appropriate plan of action.
• Communicate verbally, in writing, and electronically with patients, families, and the care delivery team.
• Document activities and treatments accurately.
• Understand and perform tasks requiring mental/visual fatigue and physical handling up to 50 pounds.
• Collect comprehensive data related to patient health: assess physical and developmental needs, analyze assessment data, document nursing history, review vital signs, and detect deviations from normal.
• Identify patient problems or issues through assessment data, confirm problems with patient and family, document expected outcomes, and plan of care using clinical pathway and outcome teaching record.
• Develop and implement individualized plans with interventions, incorporating patient/family input, clinical pathways, and evidence-based interventions.
• Administer prescribed medication and treatment per nursing techniques and policies.
• Maintain awareness of comfort and safety needs, initiate patient education plan, and coordinate implementation.
• Organize and delegate patient care interventions, evaluate the effectiveness of care, and document patient response.
• Participate in quality improvement activities, use results to initiate changes in nursing practice, and maintain competency through ongoing educational activities.
• Self-evaluate and participate in systematic peer review; contribute to professional development of peers.
• Collaborate with patients, families, and health disciplines to effect change and generate positive outcomes.
• Integrate ethical provisions in all areas of practice; serve as patient advocate.
• Integrate research findings into practice through involvement in data collection, research committees, and analysis of nursing practice trends.
• Provide leadership in professional practice setting, participate in committees, attend unit staff meetings, and maintain professional healthy work environment.

• Associate's degree in Nursing required;
  Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred (must be obtained within 8 years of hire). Must obtain a BSN within 8 years of hire; failure to do so may result in termination.
• Licensed Registered Nurse in good standing with the State of Michigan.
• BLS competency required upon completion of core orientation.
• Cardiac Life Support or Advanced Life Support required.
• Ability to read, interpret, and analyze data from various computer systems.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including electronic communication.
• Accurate documentation of activities and treatments.

12 Hour Night Shift – full time, 36 scheduled weekly hours.
