Registered Nurse
Manage patient care on a Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit. The typical patient ratio ranges from 1:5 to 1:6, with potential increases to 1:7 due to call-ins. Engage in onboarding of new staff to support patient care needs. Provide care for patients recovering from trauma, bariatric and abdominal surgeries, and urological conditions. Assist with overflow medically and cardiac patients as needed. Required to work every other weekend and every other holiday.
Candidates should be comfortable with the required patient ratios and workload associated with the shift. Charting is performed using a specified electronic health record system. Must be prepared to float to similar units as required by staffing needs. A commitment to professional conduct and reliable attendance is crucial for this role. The unit encompasses a diverse patient population, including adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.
Daily patient census may reach up to 40 patients, with unit capacity at 46 beds. Interdisciplinary team support is available for comprehensive patient care. Important procedures performed include post-operative care, telemetry monitoring, and management of complex medical needs. The role demands proficiency in advanced nursing skills, including the management of telemetry drips, IV therapies, and postoperative monitoring. Compliance with a maximum request for time off of 10 days within the contract period is necessary.
