American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN with NIHSS certification for a neurology-focused unit requiring Michigan RN licensure and 1-2 years of Med/Surg experience.

• 40-bed Medical Surgical unit specializing in neurological disorders including stroke, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, and inflammatory brain/spinal cord conditions
• Large spinal surgery population including post-operative neuro-surgery, ortho-surgery, laminectomy, and spinal fusion patients
• Unit includes six step-down/telemetry beds and six bariatric beds
• Includes a four-bed Neuro Monitoring Unit for seizure patients age 5 and up
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Every other weekend required
• Nurse to patient ratio of 1:4 or 1:5
• May float to other Med/Surg units, ICU units, and ED waiting rooms
• EMR: EPIC
• Pyxis medication dispensing system utilized

• Active Michigan RN license required
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• NIHSS certification required, or willingness to complete certification prior to start
• 1-2 years of Med/Surg experience preferred
• Proof of flu vaccination required, with exemption requests submitted within 48 hours of signing

• Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a differential rate
• Assignment length up to 26 weeks
• 36 or 48 hour work weeks available upon request
• No holiday time off requests accepted; scheduling flexibility to be discussed with manager
• RTO limited to no more than 10 days
• Travelers are prioritized for floating assignments
• Previous internal travelers may return after 6 months; previous permanent staff may return after 1 year
