Shift: Night (3x12 Hours) 19:00 7:30
LOCAL RATE APPLIES TO CANDIDATES 50 MILES AND UNDER FROM FACILITY - SEE CDM FOR RATE
Prefer ***-2 years Med/Surg Experience
BLS (AHA) Required, NIHSS Required
- Or be willing to commit to completing the certification prior to start
Michigan RN license
Will work every other weekend.
May be asked to float to other Med/Surg Units, ICU Units and ED waiting rooms
Night shift ratios: 1:5-6, no LPN on nights. Charge is free, when fully staffed (5RNs. They are usually only staffed with 4 RNs and charge takes 3 pts. Charge takes 6 pts when only staffed with 3 nurses.
Equipment utilized: EPIC, Pyxis
About the Unit
NVU is a 40 bed medical surgical unit specializing in the care of patients with neurological disorders such as Stroke, Epilepsy, Multiple Sclerosis and other inflammatory disorders of the brain and spinal cord. We have a large spinal surgery population, which includes care for the post-operative neuro-surgery, ortho-surgery, Laminectomy and Spinal Fusion patients. Our unit also includes six step-down/telemetry beds and six bariatric beds allowing us to provide care to a diverse patients population.
Last but not least, there is a four bed Neuro Monitoring Unit where we admit seizure patients starting at age 5 in an effort to find the cause of their seizures.
