Role Description
The Health & Safety Coordinator supports the overall health, safety, and compliance efforts for Taplin Companies employees, clients, and job sites. This role assists with safety program administration, training coordination, field support, inspections, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Health & Safety Coordinator works closely with operations, project leaders, field employees, and leadership to promote a proactive safety culture, ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local requirements, and reflect the organization’s core values through problem solving, customer focus, teamwork, a can-do attitude, and doing the right thing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Safety Program Support
- · Support the development, implementation, and ongoing improvement of company health and safety programs, procedures, and training materials.
- · Help ensure safety programs and related documentation remain aligned with applicable federal, state, and local requirements, including OSHA and other relevant regulatory standards.
- · Support and comply with all components of the ELKS safety program.
- · Write Health and Safety plans for job sites.
- · Learn Avetta and ISN reporting systems to input information .
- · Coordinate safety activities across divisions and provide support to project managers, supervisors, and field teams to promote consistent safety practices.
- · Assist with jobsite safety inspections, hazard identification, and follow-up on corrective actions to reduce risk and improve safe work practices.
- · Interact regularly with supervisors and employees to identify unsafe conditions, reinforce safe work practices, and support practical solutions.
- · Provide field support as needed, including responding to operational safety questions or urgent needs, which may occasionally include weekend support in coordination with the Vice President of Safety.
- · Maintain accurate records of training activities, certifications, sign-ups, incident information, inspections, corrective actions, and safety program documentation.
- · Assist with incident, near-miss, property loss, and injury documentation, including gathering information and supporting corrective action follow-up.
- · Support employee training needs as required, including scheduling, tracking, and assisting with safety orientations, refresher training, and job-specific safety requirements.
- · Build strong internal relationships across Taplin Companies to better support employees, clients, and operational needs.
- · Participate in professional development and industry-related activities to stay current on safety program requirements, best practices, and regulatory updates.
- · Maintain regular, reliable, and physical attendance as an essential function of the position.
- · Travel occasionally for jobsite support, training, meetings, or project needs, including potential overnight or out-of-state travel.
- · Perform other related duties as assigned to support the overall objectives of Taplin Companies.
Education and Experience
- · Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Construction Management, Industrial Safety, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
