Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Electric Motor Winder to join our team. This role focuses on the rewinding and electrical repair of electric motors, generators, and other electro-mechanical equipment. The ideal candidate has deep technical expertise, a strong eye for detail, and takes pride in producing high-quality workmanship. Our shop is EASA accredited, and we use EASA Redesign software, which reflects our commitment to quality, engineering precision, and continuous improvement.

Electric Motor Winder – Multiple Locations (Onsite)

Key Responsibilities

  • Rewind a variety of electro-mechanical equipment, including:
    • Three-phase AC motors (random and form wound)
    • DC fields and armatures
    • Wound rotors, alternators, and transformers
  • Record winding data, take accurate measurements, and document winding characteristics
  • Perform proper insulating and varnishing techniques, including VPI (Vacuum Pressure Impregnation) processes
  • Operate and interpret results from specialized testing and winding equipment, such as:
    • Surge testers, core-loss testers, winding machines, and bake/burnout ovens
  • Conduct electrical diagnostics and core testing throughout the rewinding process
  • Ensure all work meets EASA and internal quality standards
  • Assist in mentoring junior personnel and contributing to a collaborative team environment

Qualifications

  • Education:

    High School Diploma or GED required
  • Experience:

    Minimum 2 years in electric motor rewinding (3-5+ years strongly preferred)
    • Experience under a Class A or B Winder is a plus
  • Certifications:

    Valid Driver's License required; CDL and DOT health card preferred
  • Preferred:
    Experience in an EASA-accredited shop or familiarity with EASA best practices

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of electric motor theory, components, and winding design
  • Proficient in reading technical drawings, schematics, and following documented procedures
  • Able to use micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring tools accurately
  • Comfortable using work order systems on computers or tablets
  • Capable of analyzing winding failures and suggesting redesigns as needed
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to safety, precision, and high standards

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
  • Ability to stand, walk, reach, twist, and perform repetitive hand/arm tasks
  • Good vision and hand-eye coordination for detailed electrical work
  • Willingness to work in a typical shop environment with exposure to noise, rotating equipment, and various temperatures

  • Work is performed in a clean, organized, and ventilated motor shop
  • Standard daytime hours with occasional overtime or weekend work based on project demand
