Scientist, Protein Biochemistry

Proteos, a wholly owned subsidiary of Nano Imaging Services, Inc. (NIS), is a global leader in supporting pharma and biotech discovery and development programs. We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Scientist to join our Protein Expression and Purification team in Kalamazoo, MI.

This role focuses on expression, purification, and characterization of challenging proteins, including membrane proteins, in support of client-driven therapeutic discovery programs.

• Purify proteins using various chromatographic techniques including affinity, ion exchange, and size exclusion chromatography
• Optimize solubilization and stabilization of membrane proteins using detergents and related systems
• Perform protein quality assessment via SDS‑PAGE, western blotting, HPLC‑SEC, mass spectrometry, and protein quantitation
• Conduct biophysical characterization and binding studies using SPR, BLI, and/or MST
• Prepare buffers, media, and reagents
• Analyze, document, and report data in technical reports
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support client programs

• PhD with 3+ years relevant experience, or BS/MS with 7+ years
• Strong experience in recombinant protein expression and purification, including membrane proteins
• Hands‑on experience with
  
  E. coli, insect, and/or mammalian expression systems
• Proficiency with chromatography‑based purification methods
• Experience with SPR, BLI, MST, or related biophysical techniques
• Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills
• Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment
