The position of Retail Associate is at New Way YFC Thrift Store and will interact with the public, process sales transactions, receive donated items, process donations, and restock the store. This role also involves overseeing teen employees, developing their skills, and mentoring them in their work ethic. Additionally, there are opportunities to participate in direct ministry activities, as New Way is a ministry site for Kalamazoo Youth for Christ.

Building relationships with volunteers of all ages is a key function.

New Way Team Member Responsibilities: All employees represent Youth For Christ Kalamazoo and uphold the following standards:

• Arrive on time, prepared to work in uniform.
• Maintain a positive, professional attitude; no offensive language.
• Be good stewards of resources entrusted to the organization.
• Demonstrate a strong work ethic and serve others.
• Sort, tag, and hang clothing as directed.
• Receive and sort donations.
• Perform general housekeeping.
• Provide excellent customer service at checkout and when bagging items.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment.
• Report safety concerns.
• Complete tasks timely and assist with other duties as directed.
• Uphold personal integrity and courtesy.

• Handle cash and learn POS systems.
• Provide excellent customer service and phone skills.
• Handle difficult customers patiently.
• Manage stock and inventory.
• Lift and carry up to 50 lbs and move large furniture with carts or dollies.

• Seek God’s guidance through prayer and meditation.
• Participate in prayer, devotion, and worship.
• Teach and preach from the Bible at staff meetings and events.
• Model empathy, humility, and promote inclusion.

Opportunities exist for ministry licensing or ordination through Youth for Christ.

• High School Diploma;
  Associates preferred.
• Passion for sales, customer service, and working with youth.
• Management experience is a plus.
• Must not be on CPS or Sex Offender Registry.
