Lead Carpenter

This Lead Carpenter role oversees a crew of 3–4 laborers and carpenters while performing hands-on carpentry work on new construction projects, including commercial buildings, pole barns, and pre-engineered structures. The position combines field leadership with advanced carpentry skills, with a strong emphasis on rough framing, sheet metal siding, metal roofing, and other core carpentry tasks.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise a crew of 3–4 laborers and carpenters on new construction projects, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality work.
  • Perform rough framing for a variety of commercial, pole barn, and pre-engineered building projects.
  • Install doors and windows accurately, ensuring proper fit, function, and finish.
  • Complete finish trim work, including casing, baseboards, and other detailed interior carpentry.
  • Execute commercial casework and cabinetry installation with precision and attention to detail.
  • Install bath accessories and related interior fixtures according to specifications and plans.
  • Install sheet metal siding and metal roofing systems on new builds.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings to plan and execute framing and finish tasks.
  • Use basic hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices, such as tape measures, to complete framing, installation, and finish carpentry work.
  • Coordinate daily work plans, participate in morning planning and crew orientations, and assign tasks to team members.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors, owners, and project stakeholders to keep projects on schedule and aligned with expectations.
  • Work independently when required while also providing clear direction and support to crew members.
  • Assist with any additional carpentry and construction duties necessary to complete new build projects from start to finish.
Essential Skills
  • At least 3 years of professional carpentry experience, including work on commercial projects.
  • Proven experience running a commercial job site, including coordinating crews and daily activities.
  • Strong understanding of rough framing and framing layout for new construction.
  • Proficiency in finish carpentry, including trim work, interior woodwork, and detailed finishes.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings.
  • Hands-on experience with framing, new construction, and rough carpentry.
  • Skill in installing doors, windows, and interior trim components.
  • Competence in commercial casework and cabinetry installation.
  • Experience with sheet metal work, siding installation, and metal roofing.
  • Proficient use of tape measures, basic hand tools, and standard carpentry equipment.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a crew leader, providing direction and support to team members.
  • Ownership of basic hand tools necessary for daily carpentry tasks.
Additional

Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience working with steel stud framing.
  • Background in pole barn construction and pre-engineered building projects.
  • Knowledge of cabinetry and cabinet making, including interior woodwork and woodworking techniques.
  • Familiarity with interior construction for offices, churches, retail and restaurant spaces, pharmacies, dealerships, warehouses, and other commercial buildings.
  • General construction experience, including installation work and coordination with other trades.
